GIS combines mapping and analytics to reveal deeper insight into data
GIS is powerful mapping and spatial analytics software capable of capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying geographically referenced information.
Consisting of a visual (map) component and a tabular (database) component, GIS utilizes any type of data that can be identified according to location. With quality geographic data in digital format, users of GIS can analyze trends and patterns; manage assets such as utilities and infrastructure; map service locations; and plan local responses to emergencies.
